Exhibits
The South Pasadena Historical Museum is funded and operated by the South Pasadena Preservation Foundation
and is open free to the public. Special tours for schools or other groups can be scheduled by
emailing our curator.
For many years the Meridian Iron Works created wrought iron products until the City of South Pasadena purchased and restored
the building. The South Pasadena Preservation Foundation started the museum on the 1980s and has operated it
free to the public ever since. It provides a view into the culture and history that shaped South Pasadena.
Come see the exhibits and buy some souvenirs from our gift shop. We have postcards, t-shirts, books, and the
new oral history DVD on sale.
South Pasadena history is told beginning with the original Native American residents, through the Mexican
ranchos, to the Indiana Colony, and the 20th century. South Pasadena had 2 of the most popular and spectacular
attractions starting in the late 1800s.
See exhibits on the Raymond Hotel and the Cawston Ostrich Farm, as well
as many photos of the city in the early years. Our fine schools go back to the beginning, with many photos
depicting the evolution of the school buildings.
